The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Mapusa has rejected the bail pleas of Gautam Talwar, Samuel Pujari, and Jaffer Mulla — all 24 years old — who are accused of smuggling drugs into Colvale Central Jail using ropes.
The trio was allegedly involved in a coordinated attempt to supply narcotics to inmates by throwing drug packets over the prison wall with the help of ropes. The case has raised serious concerns about security lapses at the high-security facility.
Opposing the bail applications, the prosecution argued that the offence was grave and posed a direct threat to prison discipline and public safety. The court agreed, stating that releasing the accused at this stage could hamper the ongoing investigation.
The three remain in judicial custody as further inquiries continue into how external drug networks may be colluding with those inside the prison system.
