Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Damodar Shirodkar, addressing the media after the council's ordinary meeting, announced the approval of several key resolutions aimed at improving infrastructure and civic services in the city.
The minutes of the previous meeting were passed, and among the major developments was the approval of the Hydronic Parking Project, which is expected to streamline urban parking challenges. Shirodkar also stated that all municipal vehicles will now be painted in colours matching municipal building aesthetics for uniformity and identification.
In a significant step toward waste management, the council passed a resolution to set up 15 TPL (Treatment of Plastic Waste) plants at Sonsodo, addressing long-standing concerns about plastic disposal in the area.
Further, the renovation of the old Margao bus stand will be undertaken through GSUDA (Goa State Urban Development Agency) to enhance transport infrastructure.
Legal matters also came up for discussion, with the municipal advocate’s term extended for six months, alongside a resolution to appoint a full-time legal advisor to better manage ongoing and future legal affairs.
Chairperson Shirodkar expressed confidence that these measures would significantly boost Margao’s urban management and service delivery in the coming months.
