PANJIM: The Mhadei PRAWAH (Progressive River Authority for Welfare and Harmony) is likely to hold its third meeting in the State on October 25. The meeting was originally scheduled to take place in New Delhi last month. It has also been learnt that Goa’s request for another site inspection of the Kalasa diversion project, at Kankumbi, in Karnataka, is on the agenda.

However, Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar seemed unaware if the official notification had been issued. “The intimation will be sent to members, such as the WRD chief engineer (Pramod Badami), who is a member. They will report to me,” he said.

The Mhadei PRAWAH or Mhadei Water Management Authority, was constituted by the Central Government on May 22, 2023, to implement the award of the Inter-State Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal. It is headquartered in Goa.

In July this year, the PRAWAH team, led by P M Scoot, inspected the Mhadei river basin as part of its tour of the three riparian States – Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
