Published on

A minor girl sustained serious injuries after being mauled by a pet Pitbull in Indira Nagar, Chimbel, on Sunday. The incident has sparked concern in the locality over the safety of children around aggressive dog breeds.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld for privacy, is currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC). Her condition is reported to be stable but critical.

The dog’s owner, identified as Riyaz Mallur, has been booked by the police in connection with the incident. Legal action has been initiated under relevant sections for negligence and endangering public safety.

Local residents have demanded stricter enforcement of pet ownership rules and the need for clear guidelines on keeping aggressive breeds in densely populated residential areas.

Authorities are investigating whether the dog was registered and if necessary precautions were taken by the owner to prevent such attacks.
