In a proactive move to support displaced families, MLA Praveen Arlekar has initiated roof repair work for 14 families rehabilitated from Mopa, aiming to improve their living conditions ahead of the monsoon season.
The repairs include the installation of metal sheet (patre) roofing, providing improved protection against the elements. These families were earlier provided ₹5 lakh each as a government grant for reconstruction and repairs. However, with little on-ground progress, Arlekar has taken direct responsibility to ensure the work is completed.
Importantly, the current repair initiative is not funded through the original ₹5 lakh disbursals, indicating an additional step taken by the MLA to address the urgent needs of the community.
Residents expressed their appreciation for the timely and much-needed intervention, calling it a major relief as the rains approach.
The move has been widely lauded as a compassionate and effective example of elected representatives stepping in when bureaucratic delays hinder public welfare.
