Raising concerns over alleged illegal land development, MLA Viresh Borkar on Wednesday highlighted the issue of unauthorized plotting in Neura, stating that key infrastructure like a road, well, and water pipeline do not appear in the Regional Plan (RP). He slammed the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department for its inaction despite repeated complaints.
Borkar questioned how development activities were being allowed without proper approvals or reflection in planning documents. “There is no mention of the road or utility infrastructure on the Regional Plan. This is a clear case of irregularity,” he said, demanding accountability from the authorities.
Responding to the allegations, TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane clarified that the area in question falls under the settlement zone as per the Regional Plan 2021. He added that an inspection has already been carried out and assured the House that his department would write to the Public Works Department (PWD) to notify the road in question.
The exchange brought renewed focus on the growing concerns over land misuse and unregulated development in rural parts of Goa.
