Kamat Urges Power Minister to Address “Selective Transfers” Hurting Staff Morale

Ramchandra Kamat, Vice Chairperson of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), has raised serious concerns over what he calls “selective transfers” within the Electricity Department in Mormugao Taluka. He alleged that only certain employees have been moved, while those with close ties to the local MLA have been allowed to remain in their positions.

In a strong appeal to Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Kamat urged the department to review the staff transfer process and ensure that postings are carried out fairly and transparently. “This kind of partiality is not only unethical but is also severely affecting the morale of sincere and hardworking employees,” Kamat said.

He stressed that fair administrative practices are essential for maintaining public trust and departmental efficiency. The issue has sparked concern among staff members, with growing calls for a reassessment of recent transfer orders.

Kamat’s statement adds to the ongoing discourse around political interference in bureaucratic decisions, a matter that has drawn attention in various departments across the state. The Power Minister is yet to issue a public response on the matter.
