As Harvalem Waterfall in Goa draws growing crowds, concerns are rising among local residents about the lack of safety measures at the popular destination. With no security personnel on site and unclear water depths in several areas, locals fear that accidents may become inevitable unless both tourists and authorities act responsibly.
The absence of essential precautions, such as warning signs, lifeguards, and barriers around dangerous spots—poses significant risks, especially during the monsoon season, when water levels can rise quickly and unpredictably. Residents emphasize that while Harvalem’s natural beauty is a strong tourist attraction, it also carries serious risks for those unfamiliar with the area.
Sankhali Municipal Council Chairperson Siddhi Parab has issued a public appeal urging tourists to stay cautious while visiting the site. “We welcome everyone to enjoy the beauty of Harvalem Waterfall, but safety must come first. Visitors should avoid unknown or deep waters and ensure children are supervised at all times,” Parab said. She also encouraged local authorities to enhance safety by installing visible warning signs, deploying security staff, and conducting routine safety assessments to help prevent future mishaps.
