Mormugao Municipal Council Warns of Water, Power Cut for Roadside Garbage Dumping

The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has issued a strong warning to residents over the growing problem of roadside garbage dumping, which is contributing to the emergence of black spots across the city.

MMC Chairperson Girish Borker stated that strict action will be taken against habitual offenders, including the possible disconnection of water and electricity supply for those who continue to flout waste disposal regulations.

The warning came following a review meeting held on Wednesday with councillors and the garbage contractor’s supervisor, where the rising issue of uncollected and improperly disposed waste was discussed. Officials noted that several residents are avoiding the official waste collection system and instead dumping garbage in open areas.

The Council has appealed to citizens to hand over waste directly to garbage collectors and cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across Mormugao. “Keeping our city clean is a collective responsibility,” said Borker, urging residents to follow municipal guidelines and avoid penalties.
