
A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries in an early morning road accident near Fatima High School in Rivona, Sanguem, around 7:35 a.m. on Monday. The mishap occurred while the rider was attempting to overtake a passenger bus near Quepem.
According to preliminary police reports, the accident was triggered when a truck suddenly approached from the opposite direction during the overtaking maneuver. In an effort to avoid a head-on collision, the rider lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the road.
The injured rider was promptly taken to the Quepem Health Centre for medical attention. Fortunately, his injuries were reported to be minor.
Quepem Police conducted a panchanama at the site and have initiated further investigation to establish the full sequence of events and determine any liability.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks of overtaking on narrow or high-traffic routes, particularly during morning commute hours.
