PANJIM: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday announced that the by-election to Ward No. V of the Nadora Village Panchayat will be held on December 8 at the Government Primary School Madant, Nadora (South Wing).
According to the SEC, the ballot voting will be held from 8 am to 5 pm and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 9.
North Goa District Collector has been appointed as District Election Officer, while Mamlatdar of Bardez taluka is the Returning Officer.
There are 307 eligible voters, including 152 males and 155 females, in the ward which is reserved for OBC candidates. Filing of nominations will commence from November 20, and conclude on November 27. Scrutiny will be held on November 28. Nominations can be withdrawn on November 29, the SEC said.
The model code of conduct has come into force from November 18, and will remain in force till the completion of the election process. The expenditure limit for the election for a candidate has been fixed Rs 40,000.
General observer and expenditure observers and flying squads have been appointed to monitor the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the SEC said.
