Navi Mumbai doctor accuses Canacona family of illegal bungalow takeover

Canacona Police have registered an FIR against a family from Dapot-Maxem after Navi Mumbai resident Dr. Deepak Sondhi alleged that they forcibly took possession of a bungalow in the area. As per the complaint, on April 13, 2025, the accused, identified as Savio Wency Carneiro, Julie Carneiro, and others, allegedly entered the bungalow, which Dr. Sondhi claims he had been occupying for the past one-and-a-half years based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Julie Carneiro, after paying her Rs 43 lakh.

The family reportedly evicted Dr. Sondhi’s manager and another staff member, took over the property, and barred them from returning. The accused have been booked under Section 329 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for unlawful entry and assault.

This development follows a previous complaint by Dr. Sondhi, who alleged that he was cheated out of Rs 1.26 crore by the same individuals. He claims they falsely promised to sell him the bungalow and adjacent land, which he later learned was not legally theirs. Canacona Police are currently investigating the matter.
