Once a scenic gem and popular tourist spot in Gaodongri, Canacona, the Bamanbudo Waterfall is now in a state of neglect, raising serious concerns about hygiene, safety, and eco-tourism management.
Visitors have expressed deep disappointment over the deplorable condition of the area. The changing rooms near the waterfall are filled with garbage, posing a health and safety risk. Dustbins meant to help manage waste have been thrown into nearby bushes, and the large dustbin on site is overflowing, spreading a foul smell throughout the vicinity.
Adding to the woes, no visible cleaning or maintenance staff are present, and the occasional police presence is minimal and ineffective, particularly in managing crowds or enforcing cleanliness.
“This place was once pristine. It’s heartbreaking to see how it's been left to deteriorate,” said one local visitor.
Environmentalists and residents are now urging the authorities to take immediate action to restore and maintain Bamanbudo Waterfall, not just to preserve its natural beauty, but also to protect it as a valuable eco-tourism site in the Canacona region.
