In a crackdown on illegal drug activity, Calangute Police arrested a Nepali national in the early hours of April 11 for possession of ganja valued at approximately ₹65,000.

According to police sources, the accused, Nanda Ram B.K., 30, originally from Ward No. 2, Bhatte, Tulsipur, District Dang, Nepal, and currently residing at Café Goa Shack, Calangute, was found in possession of a greenish leafy substance suspected to be ganja, weighing 0.650 kg.

The arrest was made near Palmarinha Resort, Porbawaddo, Calangute, between 12:20 AM and 2:50 AM, following a complaint filed by PSI Vighnesh Naik. The narcotic substance was seized through a formal panchanama and preserved for further forensic analysis.

A narcotics case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing under the leadership of PSI Kiran Naik, with supervision from PI Paresh Naik, SDPO Shri Vishwesh Karpe, and overall monitoring by SP North Goa, Shri Akshat Kaushal, IPS.

The arrest marks another step in Goa Police’s continued efforts to curb drug trafficking in the state’s popular tourist zones.
