In a landmark move to streamline highway travel and reduce toll-related hassles, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to roll out a FASTag-based Annual Pass for private vehicles starting August 15, 2025. Priced at ₹3,000, the pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.

The scheme is exclusively designed for non-commercial private vehicles—including cars, jeeps, and vans—and is expected to significantly reduce travel costs and time for frequent highway users. The Annual Pass will be usable across all National Highways in India.

To make the system easily accessible, a dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be launched on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

This new initiative directly addresses long-standing complaints about toll plazas situated within a 60 km stretch—an issue that has frustrated drivers for years. By offering a single, prepaid solution, the Annual Pass is expected to reduce congestion, cut down wait times, and minimize toll disputes, thereby enhancing the overall travel experience.

Officials say the move aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting smart, efficient, and user-friendly infrastructure while delivering tangible benefits to millions of private vehicle owners across the country.
