PANJIM: The North Goa Collector has banned the entry of heavy vehicles into Porvorim on National Highway-66 Elevated Corridor Project with immediate effect till the completion of the above project.
Heavy goods vehicle like trailers, containers etc coming from Banda side and proceeding towards Pernem, Bardez, Tiswaditalukas shall stop at Patradevi, Sakral, Torsem, Tamoxem, Ugvem, and near Redkar hospital from 6 am to 10 pm and shall be allowed to ply between 10 pm and 6 am. These vehicles shall take diversion at Merces junction towards Banastraim/Cortalim.
Heavy vehicles carrying essential commodities like food grains, vegetables, perishable items, etc shall proceed towards Panjim via Porvorim/Merces during non-peak traffic hours i.e. 11 am to 12.30 pm, 2.30 pm to 4 pm and from 8.30 pm to 8 am.
Heavy vehicles plying to and from Pilerne Industrial Estate, shall not use the road from Porvorim to reach their destination from 6 am to 10 pm. These vehicles shall take a diversion at Saligao junction to proceed towards Mapusa/Green Park junction.
