Panjim escaped major flooding on Tuesday despite widespread rain across the state, according to Rohit Monserratte, Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP). The city’s drainage systems held up well, bringing a sense of relief to residents.

In a statement to the press, Mayor Monserratte also provided an update on the ongoing campaign to address dangerous trees posing risks across the city. "Out of 350 identified dangerous trees, only 150 are left to be trimmed or cut," he said, noting that the CCP is working swiftly to eliminate potential hazards before the peak monsoon season.

Additionally, the mayor revealed that the Goa Engineering College (GEC) has submitted a list of approximately 20 dangerous buildings in Panjim that require urgent structural assessments or repairs. The CCP is coordinating with relevant departments to address these risks and ensure public safety.

“We are actively addressing both natural and structural threats to the city. Our goal is to keep Panjim safe and flood-free this monsoon,” Monserratte added.
