Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, speaking to the media on Monday, chose to maintain a cautious stance regarding the recent sacking of Govind Gaude from the Goa cabinet. Cabral, who himself was previously asked to resign from the cabinet, remarked that sometimes refraining from making any public reaction is the wisest course of action, especially in sensitive political situations.
Addressing questions about Gaude’s removal, Cabral stated, “To give a reaction to the media—you know what has happened—I feel no reaction is good as of now.” He emphasized that the current circumstances call for restraint and that it is prudent for politicians to focus on their responsibilities rather than get entangled in public controversies.
Reflecting on his own experience after leaving the cabinet, Cabral noted that stepping back from ministerial duties has allowed him to dedicate more time to his constituency. “After I was asked to resign from the cabinet, I have got time to work in my constituency and get ready for a comeback in the year 2027,” he said, indicating his intention to remain active in public service and prepare for future political opportunities.
Cabral also acknowledged the role of the media, stating, “Journalists are doing a good job; they should do their work, and we should do ours. What has happened is because good reporters brought out something which is considered reporting in a different way.” He suggested that the evolving nature of media coverage means that such situations are likely to continue, and politicians must adapt accordingly.
