North Goa Police on Wednesday detained Deepak Sonawane (36), a resident of Maharashtra, and Divya Suhag (27), from Haryana, in connection with an abetment to suicide case registered in Rohtak. The deceased, Magan, was Suhag’s husband, who reportedly died by suicide in Haryana last week.
Acting on a request from Bahuakbarpur Police in Rohtak, Goa Police tracked down the duo in the Anjuna area using local intelligence. “The two were detained by Anjuna Police and handed over to the Rohtak Police team that arrived in Goa on Wednesday evening,” said North Goa SP Rahul Gupta.
The couple is accused of allegedly mentally harassing the victim. An FIR under relevant sections of abetment to suicide has been registered by Haryana Police, who will now lead the investigation.
