On April 27, 2025, the Old Goa Police actively engaged with the community through a dual approach—by raising awareness and intensifying preventive security measures.
At 6:00 PM, an awareness program was held at Alto Santa Cruz, focusing on safety protocols, cyber fraud prevention, and community-based security measures. Residents from Filomena, Rego Baugh, SBI Colony, and Vasudha Colony participated in the session. Police officials discussed key topics such as the use of electronic barriers, reporting halted vehicles or unidentified individuals, strengthening community surveillance through CCTV, and fostering neighborhood vigilance.
In parallel with the educational initiative, the police launched a robust security operation targeting key areas in and around Old Goa. Combing operations and tenant verification drives were carried out in Merces and Santa Cruz, along with checking at Karmali Railway Station.
During the operation, a total of 513 individuals were checked and rounded up. The action led to 12 arrests under preventive measures, including 4 listed on the stranger roll and 4 hawkers operating without authorization.
These coordinated efforts by the Old Goa Police demonstrate a strong commitment to public safety, community involvement, and proactive crime prevention, especially amid growing concerns over cybercrime and unauthorized movement in sensitive zones.
