MARGAO: In response to persistent demands from the citizens of Paroda regarding waterlogging and road bottlenecks, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao conducted a site inspection alongside government officials to address these long-standing issues that have caused significant inconvenience to commuters, particularly during the rainy season.

The inspection, which included officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Water Supply, Roads, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), and other stakeholders, focused on a major district road in Paroda. The road, which forms part of the Margao-Quepem stretch, has been severely impacted by a bottleneck. The increasing volume of vehicular traffic on this crucial route connecting Margao to Quepem has made the bottleneck a major concern.

Alemao, who has personally witnessed the problems caused by this bottleneck, stated that villagers had previously brought the issue to his attention. "I have personally seen how this bottleneck creates problems, and villagers have also raised this issue with me. As a result, I requested officials to take action, and we are now working on resolving it," the LoP said, emphasising his commitment to finding solutions to this pressing issue.

Another significant concern identified during the inspection was the persistent waterlogging in the area, which has troubled both locals and commuters during the monsoon season. "Waterlogging is another major problem in this area due to various factors. We have identified the causes and are working on solutions to ensure it does not become an issue for locals or travellers during the rainy season," he said.

The site inspection proved crucial in identifying multiple factors contributing to these issues, with officials taking note of potential solutions that could be implemented.

Alemao has directed the officials to expedite the resolution of these problems to ensure minimal disruption during the upcoming rainy season.

“Our goal is to ensure these projects are completed swiftly, bringing much-needed relief to those travelling on the Margao-Quepem road. I have instructed officials to complete these works as soon as possible,” Alemao stated, adding that a new water pipeline is being laid in Paroda village to prevent issues related to the bursting of the water pipeline.
