Opposition legislators staged a protest outside the Goa Assembly complex on Thursday after the House passed the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorized Construction (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
The bill, which amends existing provisions to regularise certain categories of unauthorized constructions, was cleared despite sharp criticism from opposition benches, who argued it would legitimise illegal structures and encourage further violations.
The protestors carried placards and raised slogans, accusing the government of undermining judicial authority and favouring vested interests. The demonstration followed a heated debate inside the Assembly before the bill’s passage.
