Panjim’s Electric Bus Service Records Strong Growth in Ridership and Revenue

Panjim's electric bus network has witnessed a significant uptick in passenger numbers and revenue over the past few months, according to IPSCDL CEO Sanjit Rodrigues. A fleet of 48 electric vehicles currently operates across seven routes in the city.

Between July 2024 and March 2025, a total of 16,19,796 passengers travelled on these EV buses. During the same period, monthly revenue grew steadily—from INR 6.49 lakh in July 2024 to INR 27.24 lakh in March 2025, reflecting growing public confidence in the sustainable transport initiative.

Rodrigues also noted that 34% of the total revenue came through digital payment modes, while 65% was collected in cash. The growing share of digital transactions points to a positive shift in commuter behavior towards more efficient and traceable fare systems.

The EV bus initiative, driven by the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL), continues to support the state’s green mobility goals while offering affordable public transport to thousands of daily commuters.
