Parsem Main Road in Disrepair After Pipeline Work; Locals Plan Protest at PWD Office

Published on

Residents of Parsem are up in arms over the deteriorating condition of the main road, which has become nearly unmotorable following ongoing underground water pipeline work. The situation has prompted local citizens to consider staging a dharna (protest) at the Public Works Department (PWD) office if immediate repairs are not undertaken.

Community leaders and concerned citizens gathered recently to voice their frustration. Social worker Devendra Prabhudesai, former panchayat member Gurudas Pande, and local activist Chintamani Polji addressed the crowd, highlighting the hardships faced by daily commuters, schoolchildren, and the elderly due to the damaged road.

"The pipeline work may be necessary, but the road condition is unacceptable," said Prabhudesai. "The authorities cannot ignore the people’s suffering."

Pande emphasized that the panchayat had earlier raised this issue with the PWD but no effective action has been taken so far. Polji added, "If the department fails to respond, we are prepared to hold a peaceful protest to demand accountability."

Residents are now urging the PWD to take urgent steps to restore the road and prevent further inconvenience and accidents.
