Pedestrian killed in road accident near Carmel College

MARGAO: A 61-year-old woman, Fatima Ilario, from Sailabhat, Chandor, was fatally knocked down near Carmel College, Nuvem.

The incident occurred on the evening of December 25 when Ashish Patel, a resident of Aquem, Margao, allegedly rode his scooter in a rash and negligent manner. According to the police, Patel was traveling from Verna towards Margao when he struck Ilario as she was crossing the road near Agna Chapel.

Fatima sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) in Margao, where she succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy conducted by a police surgeon concluded that the cause of death was "damage to the head and spine consequent to blunt force impact."

Maina-Curtorim police have registered a case against Patel.
