Pedestrian killed, two others injured in Sancoale accident

VASCO: A tragic accident occurred at Upasnagar, Sancoale, on Saturday evening, when a speeding car knocked down three pedestrians near a bus stop, leaving one dead.

The victim, identified as Gultajbi Patel from Cansaulim, succumbed to his injuries at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim on Sunday.

According to the Verna Police, the accident occurred on Saturday evening when Aftab Farashi, a native of Joida, Uttar Kannada, and presently residing at Nerul, while proceeding from Vasco to Verna, drove the car in a rash and reckless manner and knocked down the three pedestrians. The other two pedestrians, Tahashildar Sahir and Mohammad Yasin Tambadi, sustained injuries in the accident.

Patel’s body has been preserved in the GMC morgue for medico-legal procedures.

The Verna Police have registered a case against the driver Aftab Farashi under Sections 281 and 106 (1) of BNS, and are investigating to ascertain the cause of the accident.
