Goa marked the 11th International Day of Yoga with vibrant celebrations across schools and communities, showcasing the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and school staff, who gathered to perform a variety of yoga asanas under the expert guidance of School Physical Education Teachers.

The yoga session included several classical asanas such as Tadasan (Mountain Pose), Vrikshasan (Tree Pose), Makarsan (Crocodile Pose), Ushtrasan (Camel Pose), Vajrasan (Thunderbolt Pose), Chakrasan (Wheel Pose), among others. These postures were demonstrated to highlight the holistic benefits of yoga, including improved flexibility, strength, balance, and mental peace.

The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” emphasizing the intrinsic connection between human health and the health of our planet. This theme aimed to raise awareness about how individual well-being is linked to environmental sustainability, encouraging participants to adopt a lifestyle that nurtures both personal health and the Earth.

The programme was largely attended by students, teachers, and school staff, who actively engaged in the yoga sessions and related awareness activities. The event not only promoted physical fitness but also fostered a sense of community and responsibility towards global health.
