A mini-bridge located on the main road connecting Pernem to Korgao and Harmal, near Kotkarwada in the Pernem municipal area, is reportedly on the brink of collapse due to continuous erosion of soil and stones from beneath the structure.
Local residents have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of the bridge, which serves as a key link for commuters and transport vehicles in the region. The eroding foundation has led to visible instability, sparking fears of an imminent collapse, especially during the ongoing monsoon season.
Residents have urged officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to take swift action—either by carrying out emergency repairs or initiating construction of a new bridge altogether.
"The situation is becoming dangerous. If timely repairs are not made, the consequences could be severe," warned one local resident.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Meanwhile, locals are calling for safety barricades and temporary traffic diversions to prevent accidents until permanent measures are put in place.
