PANJIM: Goa police said that they would tighten up security measures to ensure incident-free Christmas and New Year celebrations as the number to tourists visiting the State is likely to rise.
"Patrolling will be intensified in the State particularly along the coastal stretch as Goa will witness an unprecedented footfall of visitors," said Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar on Friday.
The police are well prepared with requisite security arrangements and various teams will be deployed across places in the wake of series of events scheduled in the State to usher into New Year festivities, he said
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event held in the city, he said, “We will depute our entire police force including senior police officers on the field. There will be round-the-clock patrolling so as to ensure a wonderful celebration and ensure the tourist season is peaceful.”
"There will be robust police arrangement in terms of patrolling, anti-terror vigilance or crime prevention. I want to assure people of the State as well as the tourists that there will be good policing," he said.
When asked about the preparation for the events to be organised by the end of the year such as Sunburn EDM festival, "There will be good security arrangements for all the events to be held in the state. Many events are held during this time so whatever will be the event security arrangement will be good."
