The Amcho Arogya Polyclinic, a community healthcare initiative by the TRUST US Charitable Trust, was inaugurated on Sunday, in Raia, with the aim of providing free medical consultations and essential medicines to the local community.

The clinic was formally opened by Dr. Shelly Oberoi, alongside Engr. Roque Virgilio Mascarenhas and Fr. Cristo Pinto, Chaplain of Our Lady of Monserrate Chapel, Manora. Following the ribbon-cutting, Fr. Pinto blessed the facility, marking its official launch.

The event drew a large gathering of residents and well-wishers and was attended by several notable figures, including Sir James Fernandes, AAP Curtorim constituency coordinators, and prominent local leaders Joe Fernandes and Luis Caitan, along with AAP volunteers.

Speaking at the inauguration, AAP Working President Gerson Gomes highlighted the party’s focus on education, healthcare, and community-oriented initiatives, describing the clinic as part of a broader commitment to people-centric governance.

Sir James Fernandes lauded the extensive community service efforts of Engr. Roque Virgilio Mascarenhas, particularly his proactive work during the COVID-19 pandemic and his contribution to resolving the long-standing Sonsoddo legacy dump issue, which had troubled residents of the Curtorim constituency for years.

Addressing the crowd, Engr. Roque Mascarenhas explained that the primary goal of the clinic is to serve the underprivileged. He noted that the TRUST US Charitable Trust had already conducted multiple medical camps in the area, benefiting hundreds of residents.

“This clinic is another step toward making healthcare accessible to those who need it most,” he said, urging locals to make full use of the new facility.
