PONDA: During a meeting of the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) chaired by Chairperson Anand Naik, Sewerage Corporation officials presented on the importance of the sewage treatment system. Chairperson Naik called on all Ponda residents to connect their homes to the sewerage network to keep the town clean and beautiful. He reminded residents that having a sewage connection is mandatory and urged house owners, flat owners, and residential societies to visit the Sewerage Corporation office at Shantinagar, near the ADEI office, to obtain the necessary forms for the process.

This call to action comes in response to recent incidents where some residential societies were found releasing septic waste in the open at Tisk-Ponda, causing inconvenience to the PWD staff at Daag-Ponda. Chairperson Naik also raised concerns over the rising cases of dengue and malaria, stressing that sewage and wastewater should not be released in the open.

He assured residents that the 15 MLD treatment plant at Kavlem is fully operational and ready to connect homes to the sewage network. After paying the prescribed fees, residents can expect to receive their sewerage connection within two months of application. Additionally, Naik mentioned that a survey of houses would be conducted soon to measure any extended portions, which would help generate revenue for the municipality.
