PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has officially approved the River Front Park Project, which will feature a variety of facilities at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, sanctioned by the central government. This initiative is part of the first phase of the master plan approved for Ponda.

The project, which will be located alongside the Ponda main nullah and will cover an area of approximately 7,000 square metres. A special meeting was held to demonstrate the project, attended by Ponda MLA and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, PMC Chairperson Anand Naik and other councilors.

Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik said, “The funding for this project has been approved by the Central Government and will be developed through GSUDA.”

PMC Chairperson Naik added that the project was initiated by former chairperson Ritesh Naik. Following the completion of all necessary formalities, the project work will be tendered and a no objection certificate (NOC) will be provided. The project is expected to be completed within one and a half years.

The River Front Park will include a park and garden with various facilities catering to citizens of all age groups, including senior citizens and children. Features will include an amphitheater, a 700-metre walking track, a food court, multi-sport facilities, children's parks, parking facilities and walls for painting to encourage creativity among children and artists. Additionally, a footbridge will be constructed over the main nullah to provide access for local residents of Khadpaband to the park.
