Police have arrested a man from Haveli, Curti-Ponda, for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s school counsellor, officials said on Tuesday.
According to Ponda Police, the counsellor approached authorities after the minor confided about the incident during a school counselling session. Acting on the complaint, police swiftly initiated an investigation and arrested the accused.
The man has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He is currently in custody, and further investigations are underway.
Police have also assured that the survivor will be provided necessary support and counselling.
