Port stakeholders have raised strong objections to the Mormugao Port Authority's (MPA) decision to hand over the management of Berths 10 and 11 to Delta Infralogistics, accusing the move of monopolizing the port's operations. They have called for immediate intervention from the Chief Minister (CM), warning that the decision could lead to a total loss of business and severely affect the livelihoods of many Goans.
The stakeholders, including local port workers, small businesses, and shipping agents, argue that the handover would concentrate control over key port facilities in the hands of a single company, diminishing competition and potentially driving up operational costs. This could have far-reaching consequences for the broader maritime and shipping sectors in Goa.
“We are urging the CM to step in before it’s too late,” said a representative of the stakeholders. “This monopolization threatens the sustainability of our businesses and the livelihoods of hundreds of Goans who depend on the port’s diverse operations.”
The move has sparked widespread concern among those who rely on the port for their daily operations, with many fearing a disruption to their work if Delta Infralogistics takes full control. The stakeholders are seeking a review of the decision and have warned of larger-scale economic implications if the situation is not addressed.
