PANJIM: Porvorim Police solved the murder case of an unidentified person who was found dead with severe head injuries beneath the Mandovi Bridge at Malim and arrested two Jharkhand natives in this connection.

The accused have been identified as Krishna Pradhan, 18, and Bhaula, also known as Bhola or Narayan Singh, 23, both from Simdega district in Jharkhand.

According to police, during interrogation, the accused confessed to murdering the unidentified man by smashing his head with a laterite stone. The investigation revealed that the accused met the deceased on the day of the incident and subsequently began drinking together in a shaded area at Malim. During the drinking session, a fight broke out, culminating in the fatal assault on the deceased.

Police reported that the accused, who work as daily-wage labourers on fishing boats, arrived in Goa around 2-3 months ago, after the fishing season resumed in the state in August 2024.

The detailed records of labourers working at the Malim jetty, maintained at the Betim Outpost, were instrumental in solving the case, as the accused were so intoxicated that they could not initially provide details about their background, including their place of stay.

The unidentified person was discovered dead outside the fish-selling shade beneath the Old Mandovi Bridge at Malim. A blood-stained laterite stone was found near the body, alongside empty liquor bottles, disposable cups, and water bottles on the floor of the shade.
