Post-mortem done on patient who died at Manipal Hospitals

PANJIM: The post-mortem examination of a 57-year-old woman from Siolim, who died due to alleged negligence of doctors at Manipal Hospitals, Dona Paula was conducted at the Goa medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim on Thursday, and the report was awaited.

The autopsy was conducted by a team of three doctors from forensic medicine department of GMC, at the request of the Panjim police.

When contacted, Panjim PI Vijaykmar Chodankar, said. “Post-mortem was conducted at GMC on Thursday evening and the report is awaited.”

The police have already registered an unnatural death case in this connection and are waiting for the autopsy report to know the exact cause of death.

The family members of the deceased Vishakha Chodankar have alleged medical negligence in treatment by two doctors from the hospital. The victim’s son Viraj said that the post-mortem was conducted in GMC and that the report was awaited.

Meanwhile, the last rites were held at Siolim on Thursday evening, informed Viraj.

Vishakha was admitted to Manipal Hospitals on August 11 and died there on October 2.
