PONDA: The All Goa Poultry Farmers and Traders Association (AGPFTA), has rejected the claims made by certain chicken shop vendors that the association has halted the entry of chicken-importing vehicles at the Goa border checkpost.
The President of the All Goa Poultry Farmers and Traders Association (AGPFTA), Jaykrishna Naik, has firmly rejected claims made by certain chicken shop vendors that the association has halted the entry of chicken-importing vehicles at the Goa border checkpost.
According to Naik, these vehicles are stopped by police for QR code verification, which is intended to ensure the quality of birds from authorised traders.
Naik explained that the allegations have been made by traders who are not registered with AGPFTA.
He further informed that these individuals have falsely claimed that their vehicles, loaded with chickens, are being stopped at the checkpost and that a fee of Rs 35,000 is being demanded for entry into Goa.
“The QR code acts as an access control solution, allowing vehicles to enter after scanning," Naik stated.
He emphasised that any checks conducted at the border are the responsibility of officials, not the poultry farmers' association.
Naik said that the AGPFTA was established to promote entrepreneurship among Goan poultry farmers and to ensure the supply of healthy chickens to the local population.
“We will not compromise on the quality of chickens," he asserted.
He further encouraged those poultry shop owners not registered with AGPFTA to join the association to ensure quality supply. “We are not stopping any vehicles or demanding money; they should provide evidence to support their claims, as CCTV footage is available at the border check post,” he added.
Naik also announced that the association would take strict action against the import of frozen chicken via railway and would file police complaints against those traders who defame the AGPFTA.
