MARGAO: The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) under the leadership of newly-elected president Anthony Barbosa on Wednesday commenced the process to identify land for the Tiatr Bhavan.
This initiative is a crucial step toward providing a dedicated space for tiatr performances, which would greatly benefit both artistes and audiences.
TAG met the Art and Culture Minister and discussed the important initiative of providing health insurance coverage for tiatr artistes.
This move aims to support artistes who often face financial challenges, especially when dealing with health issues. By securing health insurance, TAG seeks to improve the welfare of tiatr performers, ensuring they have access to necessary medical care and support during tough times.
On Wednesday, a delegation led by Anthony Barbosa met the minister in Panjim and discussed several urgent issues facing the tiatr fraternity.
The minister assured his full support and highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing their needs and enhancing the future of tiatr performances in Goa. Barbosa announced that the process to identify land for the construction of a Tiatr Bhavan has commenced and the same was discussed with the minister.
“The minister responded positively, assuring his full support for the project,” Barbosa said.
He noted that many tiatr artists are struggling with health issues exacerbated by financial difficulties, which is why TAG is working to establish health insurance for them.
Barbosa also said that the minister aims to elevate tiatr to a global level and encouraged TAG to submit proposals to the government in advance.
