MARGAO: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao conducted an inspection of the proposed sites for the Urban Health Centre and Sports Auditorium in Mokim, Cuncolim.
Accompanied by officials from GSIDC and other concerned departments, the inspection focused on two sites located near the KTC bus stand.
Recalling the vision of his late father, former Minister Joaquim Alemao, who had also planned to establish a Health Centre in the area, Alemao expressed his commitment to fulfilling this long-standing promise to the people of Cuncolim. “To meet the needs of a growing population and the thousands of workers engaged in local industries, this Health Centre is essential,” Alemao said.
He highlighted that the project is close to finalizing the tender process and that work would commence soon.
The proposed Urban Health Centre will be a 16-bedded facility, offering a wide range of healthcare services.
Alemao stressed that the health centre would significantly reduce the need for residents to travel to the District Hospital in Margao, particularly in cases of injury and other urgent medical needs. “The Health Centre will fill a critical gap in healthcare services for the people of Cuncolim,” he added.
