Pernem, Goa: PSI Laxman of Pernem Police Station has been transferred to the North District Reserve Line following allegations of delaying the filing of an FIR in connection with a serious assault case involving a minor girl at Khajne, Pernem on April 14.
Police sources confirmed that the incident came to light after a complaint was filed by the minor girl’s mother, accusing Samir, a government employee from Pernem, of outraging her daughter's modesty. According to the complainant, Samir allegedly grabbed her daughter’s T-shirt and forcefully pulled her towards him. When the victim attempted to resist, Samir reportedly caught her hand and tore her T-shirt, further escalating the situation.
The delay in lodging the FIR prompted concern among the victim’s family and the public, with many calling for a thorough investigation into both the assault and the police's handling of the case.
The transfer of PSI Laxman to the North District Reserve Line comes as a response to mounting pressure over the perceived mishandling of the matter. Authorities have assured the public that the investigation will now proceed with urgency, and that the accused will face legal consequences for his actions if found guilty.
The case has sparked outrage in the local community, with calls for stronger protection of minors and greater accountability within law enforcement.
