The general council of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, has announced plans to celebrate the birth centenaries of three of Goa’s most illustrious cultural icons — renowned cinematographer K Vaikunth (Vaikunth Kuncolienkar), legendary musician and composer Anthony Gonsalves, and acclaimed film editor Bhanudas Divkar.

Announcing the celebrations, Rajendra Talak, RBM chairman stated that a special proposal will be submitted to the Government of Goa for the centenary of K Vaikunth, the noted cinematographer from Comba, Margao. A three-day film festival is being planned in January 2026 to honour his legacy. The festival is expected to feature films, discussions and a photo exhibition highlighting his career.

Significantly, the event is proposed to be graced by celebrated personalities from the Indian film industry who worked closely with K Vaikunth — including Gulzar, Ramesh Sippy and Hema Malini. A dedicated committee will be formed, comprising experts from the field along with Vaikunth’s son, Attish Kuncolienkar, to finalise the festival programme.

Alongside this, Ravindra Bhavan Margao will also mark the centenaries of two other eminent Goans who made a mark in Indian cinema and music. These include legendary musician and composer Antony Gonsalves from Majorda, known for his contribution to Hindi film music and orchestration, and acclaimed film editor Bhanudas Divkar from Comba, Margao.

By celebrating these centenaries, the Ravindra Bhavan management hopes to honour the invaluable contributions of Goan talent to India’s film and music industry, while also inspiring the younger generation of artistes.
