The Pai Tiatrist Auditorium at Ravindra Bhavan Margao has remained closed since 19th May 2025 due to significant water leakage issues. The Public Works Department (PWD) Division VIII promptly initiated emergency repairs, focusing on the roofing, but progress was hampered by unexpected and heavy rainfall, causing unavoidable delays. The roofing work has now been successfully completed, marking a crucial step towards restoring the facility.
During a recent inspection, PWD Division VIII identified persistent dampness on the false ceiling and noted damages in several areas of both the Auditorium and the Black Box. As a result, the PWD has submitted an official report recommending that both the Auditorium and Black Box remain closed until the false ceiling is fully replaced in both spaces. This precautionary measure has been taken strictly in the interest of public safety, prioritizing the well-being of visitors, artists, and staff.
It is important to note that the false ceiling in both the Auditorium and Black Box was originally installed 17 years ago and was already due for repairs. Shri Rajendra Talak, Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan Margao, has appealed to the public for their understanding and cooperation during this period. He has assured all stakeholders that the management is closely monitoring the progress of the repair work on a daily basis, with a commitment to complete the project as swiftly as possible. The goal is to restore and enhance the facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for the public, audiences, and artists alike.
