MARGAO: Authorities have commenced repair work on the Konkan Railway flyover in Margao following an O Heraldo report highlighting the hazardous road conditions caused by potholes that developed after heavy rainfall. On Saturday, machinery and workers were seen actively working to patch up the damaged sections of the flyover.

The deteriorated state of the flyover had been causing traffic congestion and safety concerns among commuters. Frustrated citizens questioned the quality of materials used in previous repairs, which had failed to withstand regular wear and weather conditions. Some recalled that similar repair work had been done a few years ago, but the flyover's condition worsened over time.

According to sources, after the media report, authorities quickly directed the contractor to expedite the repairs. This swift action has been met with relief from local commuters. Antonio Rodrigies from Navelim noted, "We should appreciate the authorities for their quick response, but it was their responsibility to address the issue before it was highlighted in the newspaper."

Rodrigues further emphasised that contractors must be held accountable for the substandard road conditions, urging for better oversight to prevent recurring problems.
