The much-anticipated roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry service between Ribandar and Chorao is set to begin operations within the next 10 days, pending final confirmation from the state government, an official said on Monday.
According to Vikramsinh Rajebhosale, Director of the River Navigation Department, the government has approved the fare structure for the service, and a formal notification is expected to be issued by tomorrow.
Under the approved rates, pedestrians and two-wheeler riders will be able to use the ferry free of charge. Four-wheelers will pay ₹30 per trip, or a discounted rate of ₹15 if they hold a monthly pass.
Rent-a-car operators will be charged ₹100 per trip, while vehicles owned by tourists will incur a fee of ₹300. Tourists opting to take the ferry for joy rides will be charged ₹50 per day.
Officials said the Ro-Ro service aims to ease congestion and improve connectivity between Ribandar and Chorao, providing a more efficient transit option for commuters and visitors alike.
