PONDA: The Borim gram sabha discussed a range of development initiatives and pressing local issues. The meeting, chaired by Sarpanch Jayesh Naik, included updates on proposed projects such as the Sanskriti Bhavan and a new walking trek.

A significant focus was on the deteriorating condition of internal roads, which has been causing considerable hardships for residents. The villagers also addressed the need for stricter tenant verification and the clearing of garbage black spots in the village.

Sudesh Borkar demanded a power sub-station in Borim, citing frequent power interruptions that have been affecting the community for years. He explained that whenever he contacts the Junior Engineer or Assistant Engineer of the Electricity Department, he is informed that power supply issues stem from breakdowns in Shiroda or Bethora.

Borkar highlighted that despite Borim being just five kilometres from the Curti Power Station, the village receives its power supply from the more distant locations of Shiroda and Bethora. He noted that the power supply, which often traverses forested areas, is prone to interruptions due to fallen trees and other natural causes.

Villagers expressed concerns over low attendance and alleged that the Panchayat had failed to adequately promote the meeting, as per previous resolutions. They called for the meeting to be postponed.

In response, Sarpanch Naik assured attendees that publicity had been conducted through local newspapers and promised improved awareness efforts for future gatherings.

Rahul Naik welcomed the Sarpanch's commitment to reduce house tax from the next financial year, which had seen a significant increase despite earlier resolutions and also emphasised the need for an underpass on the Bethora-Borim Highway to facilitate safe crossings for wildlife.
