
Pernem police have arrested a 49-year-old Russian national, Anton Piskliukov, for allegedly overstaying in Goa without a valid visa. Authorities confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against him under provisions of the Foreigners Act.
According to police sources, Piskliukov had exceeded the permitted duration of his stay in India and failed to renew or regularize his visa status, leading to legal action. The arrest was made following routine verification procedures carried out in the area.
The Pernem police have initiated further investigation to determine the duration and circumstances of the overstay. Officials from the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) are expected to be involved in the next steps, including possible deportation proceedings.
