Representatives of South Goa’s Comunidade bodies have urged the authorities to improve functioning at the office of the South Goa Administrator of Comunidades, pressing for action on long-pending matters related to infrastructure and staffing. A group of representatives, including Celestin Noronha and John Philip Pereira, met Administrator Prajeet Chodankar to highlight the concerns. During the meeting, they questioned the status of the renovation plans for the Administrator’s building, which has remained unresolved despite a tender being floated by the Public Works Department (PWD) nearly two years ago.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Pereira said the delegation was told that the PWD intends to issue the tender afresh, as the earlier process had attracted only a single bidder. He added that the delay has left the office in need of urgent repairs.
The group also flagged staffing issues, pointing out that certain employees have been stationed in the same office for over 25 years. According to Pereira, the matter had earlier been brought before the South Goa Collector, but no corrective measures have been taken to date. The delegation emphasised that these issues are hampering the smooth functioning of the Comunidade bodies and have called for a timely intervention from the administration.
