Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar visited Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya in Canacona, Goa, on Friday, August 22, 2025, to inaugurate the school’s newly developed ‘Kala Krida Angan’ facility. The state-of-the-art space includes an indoor cricket pitch and a multipurpose auditorium designed to encourage sporting and cultural activities among students.
The event drew excitement among students, teachers, and local residents, who gathered to welcome the Master Blaster. Tendulkar, regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, interacted warmly with the students, inspiring them with stories from his illustrious career. He emphasised the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork, urging youngsters to pursue their passions with dedication and perseverance.
While highlighting cricket as a sport that had taught him invaluable life lessons, Tendulkar stressed that education and extracurricular activities must go hand in hand. “Facilities like these provide a platform for children to explore their talents, build confidence, and understand the value of hard work,” he said during his address.
The indoor pitch is expected to give budding cricketers in Canacona access to quality training opportunities, while the auditorium will serve as a hub for cultural events, debates, and other school programmes.
