Saligao police arrested a man at Dabolim airport while he attempted to flee with Rs 2.8 lakh stolen from a tourist villa in

Police said businessman Vijay Venkatramana, 31, from Hyderabad, staying at Porbawaddo, Calangute, reported that cash was stolen between 8 pm, on September 16 and 12.30 am, on September 17 from his rented villa at Three Kings Resort, Nerul, after thieves entered through the back door. Following technical surveillance, police identified the culprit as Akash Mahato, 22, of Puruliya, West Bengal, who was residing in Goa. He was arrested at Vasco while attempting to board a flight home. The entire stolen sum was recovered. An offence under Section 305 of the BNS, 2023, has been registered at Saligao police station.
