In a significant step toward sustainable urban waste management, Sanquelim Municipality received 10 electric garbage collection vehicles from Molbio Diagnostics. The vehicles were officially handed over by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to Municipal Chairperson Siddhi Prabhu during a ceremony.
The initiative is aimed at boosting the municipality's efforts to make Sanquelim a garbage-free city. CM Sawant praised the commitment of all corporators who have taken up the challenge of improving cleanliness across the city. However, he emphasized that public cooperation is essential.
“Citizens should strictly separate wet and dry waste, avoid discarding trash in plastic bags, and carry cloth bags while shopping,” he said. The CM also added that in the coming 8 to 10 days, the government plans to announce and implement environmentally-friendly regulations.
He urged people to begin self-regulating their habits before official policies take effect, saying this would aid the government’s mission and benefit the environment in the long run.
The new electric vehicles are expected to reduce the municipality’s carbon footprint and enhance efficiency in waste collection, marking a notable advancement in Goa's green governance agenda.
